Why “Mystic” Smiles?

"How many times a day should I brush my teeth?"

"Does my WaterPik replace flossing?"

"How long will it take to do my fillings?"

"What's the meaning behind Mystic Smiles of Carrollton?"

Our amazing patients ask us a lot of great questions like the ones above. While the first three are relatively easy to answer based on research and clinical experience, that last one requires a little more thought. In this post, we would like to delve into the meaning and sentiments behind our name!

Our Mission

Perhaps one of the most entertaining but also challenging aspects of our journey leading up to opening day was deciding what our practice name should be. We knew that it should be something that conveyed our mission. And so we asked ourselves the question "What are we trying to accomplish and convey to our community?" The answer was clear: our goal is to foster a deep human connection between our doctors and our patients. In addition to being stewards for the oral health of our patients, we desire to acquire a profound understanding of their challenges and concerns. We realize that receiving dental care can be challenging, and we seek to alleviate these challenges through conversation, flexibility, and empathy.

"Our goal is to foster a deep human connection between our doctors and our patients."

The word Mystic evokes ideas of esotericism, divine experiences, and generally that which is beyond normal human comprehension. The word is often used in the context of something magical or even occult. Similarly, a person is often described as a Mystic when he or she seeks insight into mysteries transcending ordinary human knowledge through deep reflection and spiritual practices.

Although we don't perform magical acts (that would be cool!) or meditate with our patients (there may be some relaxing benefits to this practice!), we do hope to nurture a deeper relationship of trust, care, and empathy. Like a Mystic reflecting on the mysteries of the world, we aim to contemplate the concerns our patients present with and help them reach their goals through empathy and understanding. We realize that quality dental care can be tough to access and our desire is to explore every avenue to make care accessible.

Our Decor

The murals, art pieces, and plants throughout our office were intentionally chosen to foster the ideas of reflection, contemplation, and relaxation that emanate from the word Mystic. When you walk into our office you will immediately notice our forest theme with renditions of various gentle

animals scattered throughout. Even our dental chairs are custom embroidered to be consistent with our theme!

In today's world of advanced technology and hand held devices, sometimes it can be difficult to connect with nature. Our hope is that you will get to experience a small glimpse of nature at each visit like a true Mystic! And the best part is that we hope to add more custom designed art pieces as we move forward in time.
